agree  Louisa Yang: Agree: I have had a quick glance over the article on the webside offered by Lai An, whice seems to be the exact original to be translated. In that case, 成熟前/乙烯处理即催熟, and has less relation to fresh-keeping here.

  -> Yes, a general designation for pre-conditioning (pretreatment, and so like) is 预处理, which could be subdivided as per different situation. For example, prewelding treatment - 焊前处理, steel plate pretreatment - 钢板前处理, etc. 乙烯可催熟, 如为保鲜,则应减少其释放, 译文可视具体内容定.
