Reference information:
a lens aperture is designated as f/x or f:x where "f' stand for the focal length (of the lens) and "x" designates the maximum effective aperture (light catching surface diameter) of the lens. The smaller is "x", the better (faster) is the lens because it lest more light in, so the shutter needs to open for a smaller amount of time (and catch motion without smearing the picture)
