عَريف الشَـبكة Explanation: Narimane, I have not come across any equivalent term that enjoys sufficient currency among Arabic-speaking techies as to preclude further coinage attempts. In coining my suggestion, I looked for a parallel term, one that has "master" as a component. The term "master of ceremonies" came to mind. We call that "عريف الحفل". That is how "عريف الشبكة" suggested itself. Other terms that suggest "mastery" are: أستاذ، سَـيِّد، أمـير، شَـيخ، كبـير، عَظيم، وَلِـيّ، أمام Whichever the choice may be, the proper gender ending ought to be applied. Which one you adopt may in the end be a matter of style and taste. My choice? I like أمير & أميرة. I would not choose ولي, because the feminine would be ولية, which may have some untoward connotations, especially in Egypt. |

Since that in essence expresses the function of a "webmaster" (even better than "webmaster"), I thought it was a fine translation, and wanted to post it here to share it with everybody.
