Традиционно в строителството на къщи в България се използва класическа дървена покривна конструкция. Нейните основни елементи са:
Главна биндерна греда — служи за основа на главната връзка (ферма). Тя се поставя по късата страна на сградата, перпендикулярно на носещите зидове. Размерът на биндерната греда зависи от отвора и от наличието на вътрешни носещи зидове. Размери: 14/20; 16/22; 18/24; 20/26.
Столица — бива подложна, билна и средна. Размери: 12/12; 14/14; 12/14; 14/16.
Стълб (поп). Размери: 12/12; 14/14.
Наклонена подпора (маказа). Размери: 12/14; 14/16.
Клещи — дебели дъски или талпи, които обхващат други елементи от двете страни. Размери: 4/12; 6/16.

Погледнах повторно - столИцата винаги е дървена! Таваните (покривната конструкция) на къщите са от греди, дъски, талпи, бичмета и т.н. ;-)

  -> purlin и girder не са синоними. "Сто'лица" и "подпокривна греда" са различни неща. Purlin и roof beam са по покривната конструкция; girder не се намира на "покрива", а във "плочите" - нщ като "греда, трегер" или т.п.
