cosmic sciences have to do with weather systems, astronomy, marine life, etc. I assume what is meant here is "natural sciences".
Classically, both in western and Islamic philosophy/thought, science has been broken into two parts - physical and metaphysical. The physical sciences, to do with things that exist, are collectively known as the "natural sciences" in English and exclude other "sciences" such as philosophy. This is probably what is meant here. The Islamic scholars need the help of experts in the physical/natural sciences.
