Arabic term or phrase:

I'm guessing this an idiom that means something along the lines of 'stole their thunder' or 'rained on their parade'?

You can consider using "burn their bridges", as an alternative to reflect the verb used in Arabic يحرق.

he burned their card / Burn Card

Explanation:
Card the same English word is used in Arabic dialect and once a word becomes popular, people start to conjugate it as per the sentence.
so you see : كرتهما , The plural form of two مثنى
and if singular added to singular masculine ; كرته
to singular feminine ; كرتها
plural ; كرتهم
plural added to plural ; كروتهم
and so on

And I am sorry to estimate my answer as " Highest - I am sure"
because this is Arabic thing. Hope you understand it .

"In card games, a burn card is a playing card dealt from the top of a deck, and discarded"

And that is what happened to the other two siblings became discarded and all attention geared to the new "Arrival" .

Burned their (both) world, ruined their (both) world (globe)

Explanation:
What I think is the word here is كرة not كرت and meaning would be the child has shaken the world of parents, in terms of responsibilities and and taking care of it. كرت does not fit here, and not the thunder or rain in my opinion, كرة simply means globe or ball.

Example sentence(s):
  • لا تحمل كرة الأرض على رأسك
  • الأرض هي كروية الشكل، ليست مسطحة
