Arabic term or phrase: rebat? ribat? (meaning "sudden attack")
Hi,

My Spanish dictionary states that the word "rebato" (meaning "warning of attack; surprise attack") comes from an Arabic word "rebat" ("ribat"?) meaning "acometida súbita", i.e. "sudden attack".

Very grateful for any help in tracing what this Arabic word might be...

All the best,

Simon

in this verse too it means state of readiness.... not Sudden attack but if you need sudden attack it is ( mobagatah) as i mentioned

State of readiness for (military) defence

Explanation:
the term "rebat" is used in the Islamic culture to refer, most of the time, to the state of readiness for (military) defence when there is a war or when it is expected form an enemy to launch a sudden attack during the state of war. So the word "rebat" doesn't mean the sudden attack itself, but rather "to be ready to stand against the attack".
