العدة has a lot of translations. Iddah is the most common
Waiting period - Period of Waiting - 'Iddah

As for the verb that come with it, I couldn't find it either. But I have found "wait"and "observe". Wait is used in the Holy Quran. (observe was found on a site attacking Islam and couldn't find it elsewhere).

I prefer wait here.

agree  paleozon: It means to "ENDURE" or "MAKE LAST" for a DURATION = Istidamah.........In respose, it is meant to carry a connotation. It has to do with divorce. Remember!
