Ajowan Explanation: نبات النانخه (Ajowan) عبارة عن نبات عشبي حولي لايزيد ارتفاعه عن 50سم، سيقانه دقيقة منتصبة قليلة التفرع، أوراقه قليلة مفصصة تشبه إلى حد ما أوراق نبات الخلة. النبات يعطي مجموعة من الثمار على هيئة مظلة ذات لون أبيض تتحول بعد النضج إلى اللون البني المائل إلى الخضرة. الثمرة صغيرة تشبه في حجمها ثمار الخلة أو بذور الخردل. والجزء المستعمل من نبات النانخه هو الثمار فقط.أسماء أخرى -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 mins (2007-07-01 14:47:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- [AHJ-uh-wahn] Though it's related to caraway and cumin, ajowan tastes more like thyme with an astringent edge. This native of southern India can be found in Indian markets in either ground or seed form. The light brown to purple-red seeds resemble celery seeds in size and shape. Ajowan is most commonly added to chutneys, curried dishes, breads and legumes. It's also called carom.
