English term or phrase: redemption
Hello everyone,

A few years ago, I worked with a young company named Soul Carrier that produced unique handbags for women. At the time, Soul Carrier was using a video to tell their story, and while it was a well-produced piece, it committed a classic storytelling mistake: it wasn’t really a story.

I worked with Soul Carrier to rework the video—to tell the story of a young woman who lost her parents and, for a time, her way. It’s a powerful founder story that touches on loss, finding your path, and ***redemption***. It’s moving, raw, and authentic. And, of course, it’s a story.

This is the video in question:

I have to admit I'm not sure what "redemption" means in the text.

Thank you.

Explanation:
hard to use just 1 word for redemption as it implies so many things. It can also mean salvation in some circumstances.

redeeming yourself, saving yourself from further errors or harm

However, here it has the meaning of starting afresh, coming back to herself having lost her way for a while, with a strong sense of rejuvenation and renewal. Yes, "redemption" really does have all those meanings!

so she is back on track now, and has found her path to start over feeling rejuvenated

redemption

Explanation:
Redemption is essentially making up for things that you’ve done wrong - I guess here where it says she ‘lost her way’ means she got involved in some things that were bad, hurt people and that she regretted, maybe drugs or crime, but in the end came through, got her life back on track and did some good things that made up for the bad. Hope that helps.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you, Heather. Well, there are some words in the video I can't make out, but I don't think she mentions that she was involved in doing something bad.

healing

Explanation:
Redemption has a strong connotation of being rescued by God, an entity, a process. The latter is what you focus on here, but the term is so theological (so is “manifestation”, ref. video). Restoration would mean being brought back to an original state, but you want something visionary. Healing restores, but it does give one a sense of wonder, too, going forward.

Perhaps "Reinvención" would be better mphasize not just recuperation but also postive, dynamic change.
