If it's what's left from cutting something else, it's an offcut. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 53 mins (2004-04-04 17:44:55 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Following your note, I think you\'re stuck with a phrase! I would not use \"bar\" for wood, and I\'d be wary of using \"stud\", which is a very technical word in this context. \"rod\" I think is only for thin round pieces (like a fishing rod). \"Scantling\" I\'ve never heard of, but the OED says it\'s: A small beam or piece of wood; spec. one less than five inches square. My suggestion of \"offcut\" clearly won\'t do. How about this? They ask for smaller pieces of high quality. |
