no seguir la orientación educativa, faltar a las tutorías Explanation: In Spain, the person at school in charge of guiding students is called "orientador", so "advisory" is "orientación educativa" or "orientación escolar". According to the explanation given by DLyons, it's "tutoría". I hope it helps. Example sentence(s):

Suspender Explanation: El problema es que el niño no va a clase, no que no va a las tutorías. En francés hay una traducción exacta para esta expresión que es "en risque de échouer", es decir, "en riesgo de suspender" y que en este caso creo que es lo correcto. |

corre riesgo de no aprobar la tutoría Explanation: Definición de Advisory An advisory is a regularly scheduled period of time, usually during the school day, for teachers to meet with small groups of students for the purpose of advising them on academic, social, and future-planning issues. In some cases, other adults and staff members, particularly guidance counselors, may participate in an advisory program. Advisories, as these meetings are commonly called, may be casual and loosely organized in some schools, or they may follow a prescribed curriculum and clear set of routines determined by school leaders. Advisories may meet daily, several times a week, or only a few times a month. Advisory periods tend to be shorter than a typical class, such as 20 or 30 minutes long, and they are often used as an alternative to more traditional homeroom periods. The broad purpose of an “advisory period” or “advisory program” is to ensure that at least one adult in the school is getting to know each student well, making sure their learning needs are met, and encouraging them to make good academic choices and plan for their future. Advisories are designed to foster stronger teacher-student relationships and a stronger sense of community and belonging in students. While many advisories pair groups of students with individual teachers for a single school year (in this case, students would move on to a different advisor the next year), advisory programs may also pair students with the same teachers for multiple years, such as all four years of high school. Proponents may argue that the most effective advisories tend to be well organized, scheduled frequently and during normal school hours, and focused on specific advisory objectives, such as providing academic assistance and guidance on planning for college and career goals after graduation. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2014-02-28 13:02:52 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Y una indicación de que "failing"es desaprobar, como dice el diccionario: Failing Advisory Grade - College Confidential talk.collegeconfidential.com/.../1086290-failing-adv... I was accepted to Rice University under Early Decision. I am required to send in a mid-year report which may include a failing advisory grade. |
