This a technical way of putting it how any age or profile of person. However, if this were for a child, I would probably write something a bit more effusive like "is an eager, self-motived reader." How to Design Management Development Programs

agree  Charles Davis: "Self-directed" is good; "self-motived" ("self-motivated" in UK English) will probably be used for "auto motivado" just before, so better not repeat it.
