Quiero decir con esto que los méritos del Profesor Takashi Asano no son sólo académicos. La universidad no puede mirarse a sí misma para mostrar la consideración y recompensar el trabajo de sus mejores recursos humanos. Y utilizo aquí este término con toda la intención.

Strange wording. Can't quite figure out what is being said here. Any ideas/ suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Explanation:
I might be going too far with the non-literal translation, but I think this is basically what is being said. It could be translated literally, "the university can´t look to itself..." but I´d try to make it a little more clear if we agree that this is, in fact, what is meant.
