Research conducted at the University of Minnesota has confirmed the importance of Calcium in new hardwood plantings. Calcium is an important component in the development of leaf tissue and can affect photosynthetic capacity of the plant. Certain nutrients such as Nitrogen, Magnesium and Iron are mobile in soils and have been increased in Booster packets to assure better growth and establishment than would occur in non-treated plantings. As the regeneration of root and leaf mass in transplants is critical in their transition to the site, a complete blend of the macro and micro elements necessary to growth is supplied in Booster packets

Diffusion, or the movement from areas of high to lower concentrations, is the means by which nutrients are released from the advanced polymer coated controlled release fertilizers in the Right Start Fertilizer Packets. Encasing advanced polymer coated fertilizer in a Right Start Fertilizer Packet enables the nutrient solution to gradually diffuse from the source to the plant's root system. Aggressive root development is promoted when direct feeding of transplants and adsorption of nutrients to nearby soil particles occurs.



Benefits

Enhanced growth and volume increases of up to 400% over five years have been observed with time of planting fertilization. Moderate fertilization can also improve colonization by mycorrhizae, thereby increasing drought and disease resistance.
