Booster Packets:
Research conducted at the University of Minnesota has confirmed the importance of Calcium in new hardwood plantings. Calcium is an important component in the development of leaf tissue and can affect photosynthetic capacity of the plant. It is normally available in hardwood forests as leaf litter decomposes and the nutrients are cycled back into the root zone. Without adequate levels of calcium, nitrogen uptake and growth is limited. Additional minor elements including magnesium, iron and boron are incorporated to promote a balanced uptake of all nutrients. A first season increase of close to 100% in growth has been recorded on hybrid poplar plantations in Western Oregon using our Booster packet formulation. A continuous supply of all necessary plant nutrients in a balanced and “steady state” of supply can significantly improve both root and shoot development.

Booster packets have been developed for application on forest sites of moderate or higher levels of fertility. Certain nutrients such as Nitrogen, Magnesium and Iron are mobile in soils and have been increased in Booster packets to assure better growth and establishment than would occur in non-treated plantings. As the regeneration of root and leaf mass in transplants is critical in their transition to the site, a complete blend of the macro and micro elements necessary to growth is supplied in Booster packets

Diffusion, or the movement from areas of high to lower concentrations, is the means by which nutrients are released from the advanced polymer coated controlled release fertilizers in the Right Start Fertilizer Packets. Encasing advanced polymer coated fertilizer in a Right Start Fertilizer Packet enables the nutrient solution to gradually diffuse from the source to the plant's root system. Aggressive root development is promoted when direct feeding of transplants and adsorption of nutrients to nearby soil particles occurs.

Benefits

Enhanced growth and volume increases of up to 400% over five years have been observed with time of planting fertilization. Moderate fertilization can also improve colonization by mycorrhizae, thereby increasing drought and disease resistance.

Where to use

Forest applications where soils exhibit moderate or higher levels of fertility.

Description
