Is there anyone here who also do voice over? (I don't see a forum for voice over here so I took the liberty to post my topic here)

I need to know how much is the rate for voice over. I was told £30 per hour is non-prof rate, is that true?

Maybe some one can shed the light?

thanks

I would ask for more... Jul 3, 2007

Hi Lenah,

Not so sure about voiceover itself. However, I was directing voiceover session couple of weeks ago (correcting pronunciation, intonation etc.) which, in my opinion, was much easier than doing voiceover itself and I got paid £50 per hour.

So possibly £30 for non professional is quite true. The person I talked to said they couldn't afford to pay professional rate, but will be willing to pay£30 per hour for non-prof rate...

standard rate is around $150/hour Jul 3, 2007

That's what my wife generally is paid, whether she does the voice over herself or proofs it. And that's through an agency; freelance voice over artists can make significantly more.

Depends. Jul 3, 2007

Voice over (or dubbing?) for what, and in which language?

1.- For commun TV series, not much. Paid by dialogue, at least in Mexico.
2.- For a commercial or an intern video, yes, at least USD 150 per hour.
3.- For being Antonio Banderas in Shrek, dunno, but much, much more!

I often do voice over in French in Mexico: USD 100... per page.

Luck.

And... do you mean actually recording the voice over or translating the dialogue list for a voice over artist to read it?

Voice over is not dubbing and yes that's what I mean recording the voice over, not the translation. For what? I don't really know yet, the client has not explained that much.
