I'm not sure what category this should really be in, so please feel free to move it.

I just saw a French-to-English translation request from UNICEF on Translators Without Borders.

Is that not slightly unusual? I only ask because I have a friend who is paid for translating for them and, as she pointed out, it is a United Nations Program.

As far as I know Nov 26, 2015

Unicef (as well as other UN agencies for that matter) do request paid and pro bono translations. I have done both for them! I even had an instance where the project started by being pro bono and then suddenly changed to being paid...

I must add that they have always paid me the agreed rate on time.

My experience Nov 26, 2015

I did a thing or two for Unicef, but they turned out to be bad payers. How noble their intentions, I can't life from the wind.
