Very valuable information. But how it will move further? New organization for new epoch of translation industry?
I agree to reformation of ATA while the exploration of new translation activities (e.g. more translation quality standards establishing) are more reflexive into existing members of this organization.
Let us have more idea to expose until this International Translation day: September 30, 2015.

Naturally, this may vary to a certain extent across language pairs, but in general the writing is very much on the wall: the ATA is becoming less and less relevant, especially for the new generation of translators coming to the "industry". To be sure, one may speculate ad infinitum whether this is the result of their alleged double dealing or them pricing themselves out of reach of many and not providing enough value for the money, or that they simply need to "rupture their pomposity". Regardless, the sad truth remains that as an organization in an unregulated industry, they are nowhere near the same league as self-regulating organizations in other industries (NASD and state bar associations come to mind).
