The Société Française des Traducteurs (SFT) is pleased to announce that registration for the 12th edition of its Medical English Seminar (SAM) is now open.

Held every other year at the Lyon Est medical school in Lyon, France, SAM is the go-to event for professional French/English medical translators of all levels. It is an excellent opportunity to hear presentations by medical professionals, researchers and other medical translators, learn or broaden your medical terminology, and meet other medical translators.

The 2018 edition will take place from March 26 to 30. And, just like in 2016, it will also wrap up with a translation slam.

Topics and guest speakers
SAM 2018 will cover a variety of topics, including neurology, psychiatry, eating disorders, dermatology, and biomedicine.
This year’s featured speakers include:

• Dr. Marc-Antoine Crocq, psychiatrist at Rouffach Hospital and co-coordinator of the French translation of the DSM-5.
• Yannick Pilatte, researcher at Inserm and translator of the French edition of the MeSH.
• Dr. Mohand Ameziane Chefai, dermatologist.
• Dr. Laura Mechtouff, neurologist at Pierre Werthheimer Neurological Hospital.
• Alice Gomez, researcher at the Marc Jeannerod Institute of Cognitive Sciences.
• Dr. Jacob de Wolff, acute physician at Northwick Park Hospital, London
• Dr. Alexandra MacGregor, psychiatrist at La Colombière Hospital in Montpellier.
• Emma Goldsmith, medical translator and blogger based in Spain.

Social activities
In addition to the presentations, translation workshops and terminology sessions at SAM, a number of activities are planned, including:

• A drinks reception on the Sunday evening before SAM (optional, included in the registration fee).
• A gastronomic dinner (optional, not included in the registration fee).
• A guided tour of ‘Venenum — a poisoned world’ at the Musée des Confluences (mandatory, included in the registration fee).

Registration
Registration for SAM is now open until 5th March (with a preferential early bird rate until 19th February). See here for further details!

Whether you are a past participant or a newcomer, we look forward to seeing you at SAM 2018!

Early-bird registration ends on February 19! Feb 16, 2018

A small message to remind you that early-bird rate ends in 3 days!

The Séminaire d'anglais médical notably gives the opportunity to hear presentations by medical professionals, researchers and other medical translators, and to discuss with them. Moreover, it's a great opportunity to meet other EN < > FR medical translators, among other benefits.

For more information, go to samsft.fr/en/samsft.fr/en/

To register, go to SFT website.
