Dear all, I'm translating a document with many repetitions. It keeps saying: "XYZ" a failure where "XYZ" can be a one-word, two-word, three-word, etc., phrase. Could anyone let me how can I replace "xyz a failure" so the translation reads "fracaso de xyz"? Thank you very much and best regards! | | | Alison High Switzerland Local time: 18:25 French to English + ...

Thanks Alison. I know how to replace. What I want to know is how to replace the example given, as XYZ is a variable and the replacement implies a word order change. | | | PAS Local time: 18:25 Polish to English + ... To get you started | Mar 30, 2006 |
Open the find/replace dialogue. Check the "use wildcards" box Open the "special" tab. You will see a list of a number of choices, including "preceding 1 or more words" and "preceding 1 or more characters". I use the Polish version of Word, so some of the commands may differ. I would suggest you copy part of your text to a new file and play around to see what comes out. You will not be able to do it for all the occurrences at once, b... What about using actually xyz? I mean, you could change the one-word, two-words etc. expressions into x, xy, xyz in first round, than make the change "xyz a failure" into "fracaso de xyz" and then, change x, y, z one by one. Be careful with replacements, though, a space before and after is usually required. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Microsoft Word.
