How to get more languages into Abbyy Finereader 8

In version 7 I had more languages to choose from than now in version 8. Why does it support only English, German, Dutch and French? I had to use Version 7 for my current job.
During installation I had no choice. Has anybody found a solution to this problem?

Hi Heinrich,

Please specify if you mean the languages in the GUI or the language recognition file.
If you mean the LRFs, there is a bug in the updater, and I've pointed it out to the FR support. They're very helpful, and will furnish you with zip files over e-mail instead, if you ask them.
So if you can't install them yourself, be aware that this is a known bug.

I noticed I can download more languages Oct 25, 2005

When I started version 8 another time and let the mousepointer hover over the entry I saw the Entry "Download more languages". I was able to download the files and install them, so all is well now.

You will find in ABBYY Help: "Your copy of ABBYY FineReader was purchased in an online store. To reduce download times, the distribution package sold via online stores includes only the most common interface and recognition languages. To download more languages, select Start/Programs/ABBYY FineReader 8.0/Download more languages and follow the instructions of the program." Enjoy
