Please forgive my ignorance. I've been trying to contribute to a website that asks for comments but it asks me for my URL. I thought this meant my "user name" but it rejected that and, having googled for "URL", I find that it seems to mean my website. I don't have a personal website so does that mean that I can't contribute?
I'd be grateful for any clarification Prozians can give me - don't be too technical, please!
Kind regards,
Jenny Forbes

ProZ profile? Aug 28, 2009

Hi Jenny

How about trying to use the URL of your ProZ profile? (http://www.proz.com/profile/588668) Would that work?

Good luck!

Flo

I tried Aug 29, 2009

I tried again, using the URL from my Proz profile, but it still wouldn't accept me. Heigh ho! Just another ethereal mystery, I guess. It wasn't very important anyway. Thanks for your suggestions, everyone.
Jenny

email address? Aug 29, 2009

Clearly what it SAYS is that is wants the address of a page on a website (as others have explained, e.g. your profile here or elsewhere, your own website if you had one), perhaps what it MEANS is your email address.
I'm reading between the lines, in terms of the info often required to comment on blogs, articles, and suchlike.

Thanks for the suggestion, Charlie. In fact, originally, before I started this thread about the URL, I tried entering my email address, but the site wouldn't accept it. I then went on to try various URLs, none of which it found acceptable. I've given up now.
Best wishes,
Jenny
