Is there a way I can do the word count in excel or other file formats?

In word, you can go to File on the top bar, click on Properties and then on Statistics.
However, this does not work in Excel.

If you use Trados, you can use the TWindow for Excel to run an analysis including a total word count.

Have you tried to copy and paste xls file into Word and do the word count from there?

That's a little inefficient, coz you can not do that in every case, and anyway its not just excel file I am asking about, I am talking about all file formats.

available on ProZ, does it fine.

Otherwise, just open your Excel file in Word, the viewability will be... khmmm, but word count will show right.
