To what extend is Lindows compatible with Trados?

If you mean "can Trados run on Lindows", the answer is "probably not":

Lindows includes WINE, which can be used to run Windows applications - in theory. In practice, if you are an IT expert and are prepared to spend a lot of time configuring WINE you MIGHT be able to get certain applications to run - probably badly, if at all.

Most Linux distributions include WINE, and the version supplied with Lindows is not significantly better than that supplied with Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE or any of the others.

A much better proposition is Crossover Office, which is a version of WINE "tweaked" to support Microsoft Office. This actually works as it should. The latest version supports Office XP as well as Office 2000 and 97.

You can use Crossover Office in conjunction with MS Office to run the Wordfast, Wordfisher or Sprint translation memory programs on Linux. For more info, see www.marcprior.de/linux/tm.html.

Lindows' saving grace is not the fact that it supports Windows applications, but that it is easy to install and configure, though Linux purists would argue that some of the benefits of Linux, including the legendary security, have been sacrificed somewhat in the process.
