Born and raised in an Engineer's haven and playing with machinery since early childhood, I became Industrial Engineer, but with knowledge on diverse technologies and three languages, as my education was done in Sp...anish, English, and French.
I was also an avid reader, at the rate of two per week, I developed a grammar correctness that not many people appreciated, as I kept correcting their expressions.
24 years ago I was introduced to translation by my brother who needed help with an urgent delivery, I liked it and I started developing a passion for languages that took me to the place I am now, I have my own translation agency but I also work on my own for many agencies around the world, having dealt with Mexican, American, Canadian, Chilean, Argentinian, Colombian, German, French, British, Chinese, Japnese, and Indian agencies.

In fact it was in this environment where he started as a de-facto translator of business and technical documents needed for the local promotion of products and services, a practice he honed thereafter in the banking environment where he developed his more recent managerial career. Always pro bono. This why, thinking of retiring in a few years’ time as a freelance translator, he undertook the acquisition of relevant certification of his language knowledge and so was successful sitting the British Certificate of Proficiency in English (C2 European level) in 2011, and also the Institute of Linguists Level 7 Diploma in Translation (QCF) in 2012 (EN-SP: general, business and social science). He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists since 2012
Mr. Uslar Gathmann is a graduate of economics and finance in the University of Grenoble (Licencié Sciences Économiques), France so he is also fluent in French. For the same reason stated above, he got his knowledge of French certified by the French Government through the DALF-C2 (2011) which is the European Union equivalent of the British Certificate of Proficiency as proof of the highest language skills for a non-native speaker. He is currently seeking a translation certification similar to the level of the CIoL in the FR-SP language pair.
He presently does pro-bono translatios for Translators without Borders and is an active (Pro) member of Proz.com. He uses Wordfast as CAT.
