Description


ProZ.com is pleased to announce its online English as a second language course

The course consists of ten (10) modules of three (4) hours each, aimed at starters in English language. Each unit can be customized according to the needs of the student.

Price: € 600 for the complete course (Buy)

The training is provided on a one-to-one basis, using Skype, MSN or a standard telephone. Dates and times are agreed between the lecturer and the student.


First module



  • Introduction. Presentation and description of the program.
  • Auxiliary verbs. Have/have got.
  • Present time. Always.
  • Past time. While, during, for.

  • Duration: 4 hours

Second module



  • Modals of obligation and permission. Can and be able to
  • Future forms. Somebody, nobody, anybody, everybody.
  • Like as a verb and as a preposition
  • Present Perfect. Tense review

  • Duration: 4 hours.

Third module



  • Conditionals. I'd rather...., wish and If only....
  • Modal verbs of probability. Continuous infinitive.
  • Present Perfect Continuous. Continuous aspect. Time expressions.
  • Indirect questions with a preposition at the end. Question tags

  • Duration: 4 hours

Fourth module



  • Reported Speech. Ask and tell. Speak and talk.
  • Tense system. Present Perfect. Continuous verb forms. Have something done.
  • Narrative tenses. Time expressions. Phrasal verbs
  • Countable and uncountable nouns. Expressing quantity. Something, somebody, somewhere, all and every.

    Duration: 4 hours.

Fifth module


  • Future forms. Conjunctions in time clauses. Participles and infinitives.
  • Relative clauses. Participles and infinitives.
  • Second conjugation in –er
  • Verb patterns. Infinitives. See someone do/doing. Phrasal verbs.
  • Modal auxiliary verbs. Need and needn't have.

  • Duration: 4 hours.

Sixth module



  • Questions and negatives. I don't think you're right. Phrasal verbs and nouns that go together.
  • Expressing habit. Get and become.
  • Hypothesis. Unless, provided, in case....
  • Adding emphasis

    Duration: 4 hours

Seventh module



  • Avoiding repetition. Synonyms or near synonyms. Verb + preposition.
  • Tense review. The grammar of phrasal verbs.
  • Adverb collacations. Adverbs with two forms. Just. Describing trends. Adjective + preposition.
  • Discourse markers. Tags and replies. Antonyms. Phrasal verbs with a particle and preposition.

  • Duration: 4 hours.

Eighth module



  • Adding emphasis. Negative inversion. The use of -ever for emphasis.
  • Passives. Seem and appear. Idioms with pairs of words.
  • Modal auxiliary verbs. Set expressions with with modals. Prepositions in questions.
  • Real and unreal tense usage. Metaphors and idioms. Break and verbs with similar meaning. Phrasal verbs and Latin based synonyms.

  • Duration: 4 hours.

Ninth module



  • Verb patterns. Prepositions in passive sentences. Idioms with as....as and like
  • Intensifying adverbs. Position of adverbs. Extreme adjectives. Phrasal verbs- particles and meanings.
  • Relative clauses. Participles. Adjective order. Shine and words with a similar meaning. Prepositions in set phrases.
  • Linking devices. General revision. Idioms with time. Phrasal verbs- literal and metaphorical meaning.
  • Duration: 4 hours.

Tenth module



  • Advice on licensing a practice.
  • Suffixes. Prefixes.
  • Handling the hypen.
  • Avoiding sexism in English.

  • Duration: 4 hours.
