My name is Cathalina Depoorter, sworn translator Dutch, English and Spanish. I live in the Flemish Ardennes, Belgium.
In 2011 I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Linguistics at Ghent University. The following year I obtained my Master’s Degree in Translation. The subject of my thesis during my training as a translator consisted of defining different translation strategies in literature. This was very well received and I passed cum laude.
Following my training in Ghent I had a desire to learn more about translation, so in 2013 I participated in the Postgraduate Legal and Administrative Translation at Erasmus University College in Brussels.
Legal translation captivated my interest and I decided to specialise in legal translations. In 2015 I established the one-man business For word’s sake… . Being sworn in 2016 by the Tribunal of First Instance Oudenaarde to become a sworn translator completed the picture.
Nowadays I translate for Justice, translation companies, copyright bureaus, lawyers, notaries and own clients (companies as well as private persons). I am also a member of the Belgian Chamber of Translators and Interpreters. Furthermore I attend courses, workshops and webinars in order to keep broadening my knowledge and to stay informed about the latest changes in the translation world. This allows me to always offer the best service and quality possible, because my mission is a satisfied client!
I translate in following language combinations:
English to Dutch
Spanish to Dutch
Dutch to English
