I CAN'T
- Accept ridiculous rates. I am not a lawyer/doctor/teacher who translates occasionally and translates as a hobby. I am a professional translator and interpreter, and all my earnings come from this activity. My rates will let you take your share of profit as an agency or save some cents per word if you are a final customer, and they will provide me with a fair salary.
- Accept unreasonable deadlines. I check my translations several times, contact experts in the field of the text... I don't deliver translations thinking "it will be proofread anyway", so I won't accept deadlines which don't let me deliver a high-quality work.
- Offer the same rate for PPT, DOC, JPG, PDF and other formats.
- Offer the same rate when I translate into French (sworn translations). To assure a flawless French, I rely on the help of a French proofreader which charges me a friendly reduced rate. Those translations would increase by €0.01/word and take 1-2 days longer than if they were done into Spanish, unless you prefer to give the translation to your own proofreader.
