The National Museum of Taiwan Literature in Tainan City opened its Taiwan literature translation center June 15, with noted poets, writers and translators in attendance.

An exhibition of modern Taiwan poetry in translation kicked off the same day on the NMTL’s first floor.

“The museum is duty bound to promote Taiwan literature to the rest of the world, and I am delighted that this translation effort is finally receiving the recognition it deserves,” NMTL Director Lee Jui-teng said.

According to the NMTL, more than 270 works of Taiwan literature were translated into foreign languages and published between 1990 and 2010 under a Council for Cultural Affairs program. Since the museum took over the project in 2010, 13 volumes have been translated and published.

The center, located on the museum’s first floor, is aimed at boosting institutional support for literary translation. More.
