Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presented the first translation awards to five writers of the state. The recipients of the awards were Jitendra Udhampuri for translating ‘Do Gaz Zameen’ to Dogri language, A N Dhar in English category for ‘Country of the Soul’ and Gauri Shankar Raina in Hindi category for ‘Ranga Rajtarangani”. Darakshan Andrabi was awarded in Kashmiri category for ‘Zou As Peth Akh Raat’ and Azeem Khan was awarded for translating ‘Rubaiyat-e-Iqbal’ into Pahari language. Given by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, the award comprises a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a shawl and a citation.
