I later went on to attend the New York University School of Law. I practiced corporate law for 3 years before deciding to return to translation at the end of last year. The time I spent away from translation was actually very helpful, as I developed extensive working knowledge of legal, general business and accounting terminology. I specialize in legal and business translation, translating such documents as contracts, annual reports and internal compliance documents.
Much of my legal work involved cross-border deals, so I worked with legal, finance and accounting documents in English, Portuguese and Spanish. I am able not only to translate business, financial and legal texts accurately, but am also able to leverage my experience in order to suggest alternative possibilities that would make a given text fit better the business context where it is intended to be used.
