IrfanView is a powerful and lightweight image editing program that can provide a quick and free alternative to such graphic suites as Paintshop Pro or Adobe Photoshop.
About IrfanView
Supporting 68 different file types in the tested version, this program leads the way in flexibility for freeware graphics editing. Equipped with several unique features not commonly found in multimedia editing suites, it was the first graphics program worldwide to support multiple animated GIF files. With a single 340KB EXE file, this program is quick to load and requires no DLL support.

Convenient and oft-overlooked functions are found throughout the program. Some of the features that I personally found useful include the Reopen function on the File menu. This allows you to reopen the file you are currently editing, discarding all changes without having to close the file and open it once more.
Another unique feature is the ability to move from file-to-file by simply double right-clicking the viewer while in full screen mode. This cycles through the available images in the directory, a great feature for webmasters who have to deal with a lot of graphics.
Total hotkey support allows advanced users to harness the program's functions quickly and efficiently.
The only problem I found with the program was in its Red Eye Reduction feature; attempting to use it on a picture of myself, the red in my eyes stayed the same while part of my face was turned grey!
There are many different types of image effects you can add successfully, including:
* Image re-sampling to decrease file size (great for saving bandwidth on the web!)
* Image sharpening
* Creating panoramic pictures
* Blurring and embossing
IrfanView - Conclusions
All in all, IrfanView can't be beat. While there are many freeware graphics programs out there, few are as quick and feature-packed as this program. I was extremely impressed, and I will continue to use this program for all of my graphic needs that don't require advanced Photoshop functions.

Esto se repite a través de las imágenes disponibles en el directorio, una gran ventaja para los administradores web quienes tienen que trabajar con muchos gráficos.
Un soporte total de la tecla caliente permite a usuarios avanzados utilizar las funciones del programa de manera rápida y eficiente.
El único problema que encontré con el programa fue en la facilidad de reducción de ojos rojos: tratando de usarla en una foto mía, !el rojo de mis ojos quedó igualito mientras parte de mi cara se volvió gris!
Hay muchos tipos de efectos de imágenes que usted puede agregar exitosamente, incluyendo:

Y sobretodo IrfanView no puede ser vencido por la competencia A pesar de que hay muchos programas gráficos gratuitos en el mercado, pocos son tan rápidos y con un paquete de ventajas como este programa. Me quedé extremamente impresionado y continuaré con el uso de este programa para todas mis necesidades gráficas que no requieran del avanzado Photoshop.

ABSTRACT
I INTRODUCTION
Many processes inscientific:reseat-ch, industry fcommet-c:et Ctnd
government can be simulated by discrete event models. These are
simulation models in which the variables change only at a
certain instants in time, called events.

Discrete simulation is performed by computing sequentially, in
each of those instants, at the different parts of the system.
This allows us to simulate parallel processes in a sequential

manner, suited to usual computers.
Let us review the thre~ typical approaches used to implement
discrete simulation. (Zeigler B. 1970, Pritsker 1986)
Then we will introduce our own approach in which the GLIDER
language is based.
a) Event oriented simulation In this approach the system is
considered as subject to state changes at each event. An
analysis of t~e whole system is made to find all the types of
events that may happen. In each event type it is required to
determine what "changes in the variable vaLues have to be made
and what new future events have to be introduced. In the
implementation the events are programmed as procedures in a
general purpose language. A reference to each event to be
executed (type of event and the time at which it has to be
executed) are stared in a list ordered by the scheduled time
(future event list or FEL).
The processing algorithm is quite simple. The first event in
the list (the next to occur) is extracted from the FEL and the
simulated time is set to the tif{l~o.f the event. Then th"a:!
procedure for thdt event is eHecuted. This may change some
variables and schedule some new events for ~he future which are
put into the FEL. Then th~ next event ~Iillbe processed. The
process continues until sOllletennindtion condition is found.
This may be: .
i) a certain 'value in the time is reached,
ii) a certain num~er of events of a given type are executed,
iii) some other co~dition specified by tha Oser.
This' metliad has many advantages. The processing schema is

up of many interacting subsystems some of them e>:ecuting

complex operatiuns. The analysis of the system, which is
usually made by decompositibn into subsystems, does not clearly
unveil the interconnections of the events that usually affect
different subsystems. The programming of the events becomes
cumbersome, full of conditionals, references to variables of
differe~t subsystems and the danger of omissions and errors
increases. For this reason other approaches have been proposed.
b) Activity orientation simulation. In this method the system
is viewed as a set of active elements which perform certain
activities. To each activity a set of conditions is attached,
that have to be fulfilled to enable its execution. The
conditions may include: the time after which the activity can be
accomplished, certain values of the variables 'and certain
reIationships among them. The e>:ecution of the activity
includes changes in the values of the variables and of the
conditions of execution of the activities. The conditions and
these changes are programmed as procedures. A scanning
algorithm searches for the activity t.hat has the Io~'est
scheduled execu1:ion time and in which the condi tions of
execution are fulfilled. This is executed. Then a next scanning
and execution is made and so on. As in the case of the' event
oriented simulation some condition may stop the process.
The main advantage of this approach is that the active elements
and the activities they perform can usually be determined more
easily than the events. A complex activity may be decomposed in
several simple ones. On the other hand, the scanning algorithm
may be costly in computer time when there are many activities
with complex execution conditions.
c) Process oriented simulation. Many situations to be simulated
include, or can be reduced to, a flux of entities or
individuals which are submitted to dif~rent processes, are
delayed in queues and distributed in a network'of server's. It
is usually the case that the description of the individu~l
his~ory of an entity (or of each type of entity if there are
many types) is mor~ easily grasped than the interrelations of
events or activJti&s. The assumption is that cl correct
definition by the u~~r of the processes at which the entities
are subllitted, cl1fllpletelywhich is

transfer, change variables and characteristics of the entities.
The entity is usually represented by an array of atrib~tes, the

considered to be advanced. The processor continues and repeats
the scan of the entities in the CEL ~ntil no more advances are

possible. Then the next entity in the FEL (and eventually
others to be processed at the same time) is extracted and
transferred to the CEL. Then the scanning of the CEL is
reassumed-
The process is stopped by a condition specified by the user.
The main advantage of this approach is thatthe process is
easily determined and decribed. For this reason it is widely
used. However, in systems in which complex processes are to be
performed in a point in the system and the active elements are
not the wandering entities, but subsystems which activate
them~elves or each other ,then the representation of the s~stem
becomes factitious.

It is clear that the merits of one of these approaches depend
on the characteristics of the system to be simulated. In
complex systems soma parts may be adequately simulated by an
approach, others by means ous
of anath.iw. I.tis them ob.~'ithat
a mixed approach is necessary. Actually some languages with an
orientation incot-poratesOme elements of the other-two.
Let us introduce a new approach in which the three are
integrated in a common frame.
d) Network oriented simulation. In this approach the sy=tem is
considered as a set of inform~tion processing entities, called
nodes, components of a network. The nodes may receive, store,
process and send information to other nodes. They may process
information stored in themselves, in other nodas and in
external storages-TIeymay be activated (put into process) by
the incomming information, by themselves and by other nodes at
actual or future time. Whether the transformatioos in. the
information that is produced by a node is or not executed or
partially. executed can be made dependent of user programmed
conditions. One of the forms of information interchange are
messages that a node can send to other (o.to itself).
The nodes can be considered as events because they may be
programmed in a general purpose language, and may be activated
from the same node or from other nodes for the present or
future times. They may be thought as activities, because
conditions of execution may be incorporated, written in the
general language, and the nodes at-e scanned, checking the
conditions and executing the code if they are fulfilled-
Finally, the messages which flaw from a node to the other may
be considered as the entities of the process approach, because
they may activate the nodes and may be submitt~d to the same
processes see~ in that method.
The approach is particularly adequate to the situations in
which the analysis of the system has been made.by decomposition
into subsystems, because it is known that in this case the
network is the lTIostnatural re'presentation. For this reason the
correspondence betlfJeen the systelll and. the prc)gt-am is
srtaightforward.

11 THE PROBLEMS OF NETWORK ORIENTED SIMULATIQN
When designing and implementing a language for network oriented
~

simulation a series of problems are to be considered.
.a.)Definition of the network. This is done by ~'Irinude
ting the
names in any order and indicating after each name tha list of
succesor nodes. A succesor is a node at which the current node
can s~nd messages. The network may include cycles, isolated
nodes, disjoint subnetworks and loops. .
Graphic definitiun of the network is being impl~mented.
b) Definition of the activity (information transformation)
which the node performs. .This is done by means of a piece of
code associated to the node (actual~y following the name)
written in a gener-alpurposelanguage (PASCAL in the actual
implementation) completed by a set of new structured
statements, procedures and functions. The user may program his
or her own procedures and functions in the general language.
c) Storage of information at the nodes. This is accomplished by
means of an entry list for the messages received at the node
and by an internal list for those that must be stored
temporarily in it. Besides this the code associated with anode
may use the diverse types of .information storage (any type of
variables, arrays, records, files, 'lists) that may be managed
in the structured data of the general .puposed language. All
these are considered as global variables. The convenience of
including variables local to each node is being considered.
d) Interchange of information between nodes. This may be done:
i) By means of common global variables and files.
ii) By messages (PASCAL records in our case) that one node. can
send to.the entry list of other node (or to its own entry list)
Those messages are processed by the receptor when it becpmes
active. .
iii) By direct action of a node upon the information stored in
other nodes, for instance, altering its internal or entry list.
e) Information.available at the node. The code in the nodes has
direct access to the global variables. The information in the
messages is directly accessible only when the message is
processed. The value of the variables of the message may be
changed in any node by means of intructions of the general
language. In certain cases, in which comparison of messages is
required, it is possible to have simultaneuos acces to
information from two messages. Generalization to allow the
direct access to many messages is space and time consumming and
may be carefully evaluated.

Procedures are pr-ovided to search for information in any
message in the system.
f) Management of messages. The messages are registe~s of
different structures. They 'ar.eproduced at certain nodes, an
structure being associated to a particular node. The messages
are organized in l~sts which have .tobe managed by the system

The management of lists .isfacilitated by a set of structured
statements and procedures.
Another way to provide for this management is to define certain
node types corresponding to very frequent subsystems as queues,
creators and destroyers of messages, gates, resources,
selectors, etc. When these system pre-defined node types are
used the system includes automatically the adequate list
management. The user may include in these nodes PASCAL code and
system statements to taylor the typical subsyst~m to the needed
specifical case.
g) Multiple nodes. The usual situation of having many
subsystems performing similar processes is managed. allowing
subscripted nodes. These represent as many nodes as the maximun
value of the subscript, all of them using the same code. As the
user controls the subscript and can use subscripted variables,
individual particularities for some nodes in the array are
easily programmed.
h) Processing of the network. The method of processing the
network at each event was decided with a view to mantain the
integration of the three classical approaches. A FEL is
mantained and in each event element we store a reference to the
first node to be activated at the begining of the execution of
the eveRt (~e will call it the node painted by the event), the
index of the node and the time at which the event must be
executed. The execution of the event starts with the activation
of the node pointed by the event. Then the following node (in
the sequence in which it appears in the program) is processed
if the conditions of activation are fullfilled. In this way
the scanning proceeds to the last node. Then it continues with
the first node in the program until the node firstly activ.ated
by the event is reached. If some message interchange occurred
in the scanning cycle then the cycle is repeated until a cycle
is finished ~thout message interchanges. In this case the
event is consired finished and the next event is executed.
Since the scanning process repeats itself .cyclically a number
of times not controlled by the user, means are provided to
control the processing of parts of the code of a node. The user
.may restrict the execution to only one time in the event
execution or allow the execution only to be made and only when
the event points to the node.
111 THE GLIDER-l LANGUAGE
a) Node types
In this first prototype of the GLIDER language six predefined
node types are included. The types, indicated by the letters 6,
L, I~ D, E, R, are described in what follows.
G (Gate). This typ~ of node has an entry list in which messag~s
may. be delayed. -rhe main code may allow to pass the mcssayes
according to programmed conditions and selld them to oU.er
nodes. The STATE part of the code is used to change variables
that represent the state of the gate. Those vari~bles may be

used by the main code. This STATE part is only executed in the
first scanning cycle and only when the event points to the
node. The main part of the code is executed for each message in
the entry list that is processed.

node following in the programm, this indication is not

IT (for Interval Time) indicates the next activation of the
node in the future. For a type I node this implies the
generation of'a record with a structure declared in DECL NODE
below. FW is a user defined function declared in DECL as POLYG
type Cpieceway linear). whose points are initialized in the INIT
part.DISCrete and SPLINE and DISTribution types may be defined.
USE indicates how much resource is' used by the incamming
record. The maximum is defined in INIT, default value is' 1.
When the maximum is exceded the coming records waits in the
entry list of the node. STAY indicate the time of use.
SENDTO sends the processed record to the indicate node; ORDER
puts the record in the queue acording to the ascending CA) value
of the field CWEIGHT) and FIFO puts it at the end. The STATE
instruction is used to'program the state change of the gat~
The ACTIVATE procedure schedules the execution of the indicated
node for'a future time equals to the actual time plus th~ v~lue
of the indicated interval. Alternatively IT:= may
be used.
LENGTHCEL_P3) gives the length of t~e entry list (queue) at
node P3. Shortly LCEL_P3) may be used.
ASSEMBLE is a procedure which stops regiters until a certain
number (4 in our case) which fulfilI a logical condition (in
this case to have equal the field PTYPE) are collected, and

Note the use of subscript to simulate the three types of
berths. An isolated general tipe node STA is used to call the i
procedure STAT each 100 time units. Values in an array may be I

V FUTURE EXPANSIONS
Some improvements and generalizatios-are under research. We
will mention the following ones:
a) Graphic. input and animated monitoring is being implemented.
b) Active messages. In GLIDER-l messages are carriers of data. I

. simulat~ moving entities with processing capabilities, for

instance in material handling problems.

c) User defined node types. The user may find necessary to have

node types different to the predefined ones in GLIDER-I. It.
would be possible to' declare a new type with its list
processing an code and use many times this type of node. The
system would auto~atically add the declared code.
d) General
event types. It may be possible to .put' more
information in the event records to be used when the event is
executed.
e)Continuous simulation. In the example of the general node the
way in which continuous processes can be introduced. is
indicated. The cQordination with the discrete events is
automatic because of the way nodes are processed. Although this
method is not very efficient it is quite flexible, allowing for
mixed models and continuous simulation with different
.integration periods. To enhance the use in continuous

simulation some more integration facilities are needed.,
e) Variable structure. To manage structure changes during the
simulation was one of the initial aims of the GLIDER project.
Although the actual versipn does not have the required
.facilities, the language structure is well adapted to be
generalized to a more advanced one, allowing dynamic
incorporation and deletion of nodes and conections.

1. Qu'est-ce qu'un rapport?
Le rapport n'est pas un journal de votre travail. Cela signifie qu'à une description chronologique de votre travail, vous préférerez une synthèse thématique de votre contribution au projet.
Demandez-vous quel est le public cible de votre rapport. Demandez-vous, "qu'est-ce que je savais sur le sujet au début?" et "quelles sont les informations dont il faut disposer pour continuer le projet?", et n'oubliez pas que au moins votre professeur va le lire...
Gardez en tête l'objectif d'intéresser le potentiel lecteur à votre projet.
Votre rapport sera constitué de la (des) réponse(s) amenées par votre travail au projet, basique ment constitués d'éléments théoriques référencés, de résultats si possible représentés graphiquement et interprétés. Ces réponses sont des informations scientifiques, essentiellement quantitatives (limiter les informations qualitatives), exprimées en des termes scientifiques. Exprimé brutalement: vous n'écrivez ni un article dans un quotidien, ni un roman, ni une lettre à vos parents. La plupart des ingénieurs ont une mémoire très visuelle, utilisez-le en complétant votre texte de schémas et graphiques, bien plus explicites que des textes, fussent-ils soigneusement rédigés.
2. Les éléments d'un rapport
Les rapports n'ont pas une structure définie, à l'exception de certains éléments imposés administrativement (page de garde, énoncé, résumé). Cependant, tous les rapports de projet ont à peu près les mêmes éléments que nous décrirons de façon plus détaillée par la suite.
Les éléments typiques d'un rapport sont les suivants:

Nous vous demandons de faire un travail de synthèse. Pensez à déplacer à l'annexe le contenu qui n'est pas essentiel à la compréhension générale du projet (ex: les longs calculs, instructions d'utilisation). Nous vous suggérons de commencer par écrire un rapport étendu sans vous soucier de l'extension et ensuite l'élaguer et déplacer dans les annexes les informations moins essentielles.
2.1 Page de garde
La page de garde doit contenir les informations suivantes:
1. Titre: Le titre est en principe défini par vous et le professeur. Dans certains cas, il est souhaitable de modifier le titre pour mieux mettre en évidence un aspect particulier du projet. Discutez toute modification du titre avec votre superviseur.

3. Professeur
4. Identification de l’Université, cursus, année académique
2.2 Enoncé
L'énoncé est une description sommaire des objectifs du projet. Vous placerez l'énoncé en début du rapport, après la page de garde, pour permettre aux lecteurs du rapport de juger si les objectifs ont été atteints et de la pertinence de la démarche entreprise.
2.3 Résumé
Le résumé fait la synthèse du projet en une page au maximum. Par conséquent, il devra contenir une brève description du problème, des objectifs du projet (seulement ceux qui ont été atteints), mentionner les résultats les plus importants et dresser une conclusion. Dans le résume il faut surtout mettre en évidence les résultats car ce sont eux qui rendre mieux compte de votre travail et donnent l'envie de lire votre rapport.
Le résumé est utilisé pour publier vos projets (brochures, pages web, etc.) et est souvent la première chose que le futur lecteur voit. Il faut donc l'écrire avec un langage et un ton agréable, invitant à la lecture du reste du rapport, mais rigoureux et honnête (il s'agit d'un travail d'ingénieur et non d'un document publicitaire).
2.4 Table de matières
Si le rapport contient plus de 10 pages, il est convenable d'y ajouter une table de matières avec les titres des chapitres et des sections, ainsi que leur numéro de page.
Tous les traitements de texte modernes, génèrent la table de matières automatiquement. Ne le faites pas manuellement, car vous pourriez oublier d'y apporter les modifications introduites a posteriori.
2.5 Introduction
Il n'est pas nécessaire que le premier chapitre du rapport s'intitule ``Introduction'', mais il contient toujours à peu près les mêmes informations.
L'introduction doit:
· Définir le problème que le projet a essayé de résoudre ainsi que le cadre dans lequel le problème s'inscrit.
· Définir les objectifs du problème. Vous devez décrire de façon plus détaillée et avec vos propres mots les objectifs qui apparaissent dans l'énoncé. Décrivez le problème du point de vue de l'utilisateur (courtement rapporté) pour ensuite le formaliser en des termes utiles du point de vue de celui qui doit le résoudre. Cette formalisation est partie intégrante du projet, elle est même capitale!
· Parfois le projet qui vous occupe fait partie d'un plus grand projet du laboratoire (thèse, projet européen, projet industriel, etc.) Expliquez comment votre travail s'insère dans le projet global.
· Définissez le cadre de votre travail. Quelles ont été les contraintes imposées pour réaliser le travail? Quelle a été la méthodologie ou la philosophie choisie et suivie? Et pourquoi?
2.6 Etat de l'art
Si votre problème n'est heureusement pas identique à d'autres, il contient certaines similarités. Quantité de problèmes ont été résolus par vos prédécesseurs, du scientifique de renom au simple ingénieur en passant par vos collègues étudiants: profitez de leurs travaux!
Le titre de ce chapitre peut varier d'un rapport à l'autre. L'état de l'art situe votre projet dans le contexte actuel de la technique et de la science. Ce chapitre n'est pas réservé aux seuls projets ``de recherche''. Si vous concevez un produit commercial vous devez être très conscients des produits similaires ou concurrents, des brevets existants, voir des échecs commerciaux précédents.
2.6.1 Recherche bibliographique
Des outils de recherche sur Internet offrent d'intéressantes possibilités. Certains sont spécifiques à la recherche scientifique, tels le Web of Knowledge (http://isi6.isiknowledge.com/portal.cgi), qui comporte le Web of Science (revues) et le Web of Proceedings (conférences). D'autres sont plus généraux, comme Google. Dans tous les cas, ces recherches peuvent consommer énormément de temps, en particulier si elles sont mal orientées. N'hésitez pas à discuter avec votre professeur pour connaître les mots-clés adéquats.

Mais les moteurs de recherche sur Internet ne sont pas la seule source d'information. Elle est souvent limitée, parce que la plupart des travaux antérieurs à 1995 n'y figurent pas. Ayez un regard critique sur ce qui est publié: la persistance au travers du temps des citations de certains écrits peut être un indice de fiabilité. Plus personne ne remet en cause les modèles newtoniens du mouvement des corps, mais les appliquer à des vitesses proches de celle de la lumière n'est pas judicieux, comme l'a montré Einstein. Cet exemple montre qu'il faut attacher autant d'importance à la solution qu'à ses conditions d'application. Vous devez contrôler vos sources et spécifier pourquoi et comment vous pouvez les utiliser, c'est-à-dire les hypothèses simplificatrices que vous faites.
2.7 Théorie
Dans cette partie vous devez donner au lecteur des éléments théoriques pertinents pour le projet. Ainsi, vous devrez adapter les équations générales ou algorithmes de votre domaine de travail au problème particulier qui vous concerne. Mettez le reste (équations générales, théorie de base, cas particuliers, voir dégénères) dans les annexes ou les références.
2.8 Expériences ou Résultats
Le premier objectif des expériences est de prouver quantitativement que les éléments théoriques (modèles et hypothèses) que vous avez développés et les conclusions que vous en tirez sont bel et bien valables. Le deuxième objectif est de prouver que les objectifs du projet on été atteints ou, à défaut, montrer quels objectifs on été atteints. Si vous avez conçu un un ou plusieurs programmes, vous ne devez pas vous contenter de dire ``ça marche''. Concevez des expériences pour montrer jusqu'où cela marche, pour quel type d'entrées du système, comment la sortie se dégrade, etc. C'est ce qu'on appelle caractériser un système.
Il ne faut donc pas inonder le rapport de résultats mais plutôt choisir les expériences qui valident (ou invalident!) les développements des chapitres précédents.
Les résultats de vos expériences ne sont utilisables que s'ils sont parfaitement documentés. Votre documentation doit être telle qu'une tierce personne puisse recréer des conditions identiques d'expérimentation et obtenir si possible les mêmes mesures que vous.
Si votre projet a une partie de programmation en C par exemple, votre code doit être commenté de telle sorte qu'un autre ingénieur puisse le reprendre facilement: chaque fonction, classe est courtement mais précisément commentée. Des schémas-blocs de vos algorithmes doivent figurer dans le rapport. Le code sera sauvegardé dans une disquette ou un CD, ce support est à rendre avec le rapport dûment attaché dans une pochette avec votre nom, titre du projet, université, date, … Les résultats bruts de vos mesures prendront place dans les annexes, alors que leur représentation et/ou interprétation seront dans le rapport. Un effort d'analyse est spécifiquement requis pour cette partie.
2.9 Conclusions
Vous synthétisez votre apport au projet et revenez sur vos hypothèses simplificatrices et évaluez leur coût (importance). Caractérisez votre solution en spécifiant son champ d'application.
Ayez un regard critique sur votre propre travail, ainsi que sur le projet. Vous devez porter un regard d'expert, reposant sur une vue d'ensemble développée au cours de votre travail. C'est ici qu'il faut mentionner et argumenter vos doutes ou certitudes quant à la viabilité de la recherche ou du projet, votre vision et vos idées de développement futur.
2.10 Bibliographie
Cette section du rapport contiendra la liste des références bibliographiques que vous aurez employées dans le rapport et éventuellement des références de base du domaine. En revanche, ne référencez pas ce que vous n'avez pas lu: une bibliographie "alibi" peut être source de questions dangereuses à la présentation orale... Chaque référence bibliographique doit se trouver dans le texte du rapport, il y a des différents styles à ne pas mélanger.

2.11 Annexes
Dans cette partie de votre rapport est réservé aux informations qui ne sont pas essentielles à la compréhension générale du projet, mais qui sont tout de même utiles et d'intérêt pour le lecteur qui voudrait approfondir dans votre travail, comme par exemple quelqu’un qui continuera votre projet.
Ainsi les annexes contiendront par exemple,
· Des démonstrations ou dérivations de formules ou équations.
· Des calculs détaillés.
· Des instructions pour le démarrage et utilisation de votre manip' ou vos programmes.
· Des données brutes de mesures.
· Des dessins techniques, des listes de pièces ou composants.
· Des descriptions des protocoles ou formats de données que vous ont utilisé, pour autant qu'ils soient peu courants.
· Des glossaires.
Les références bibliographiques
"Si j'ai pu voir plus loin que les autres, c'est parce que je m'appuyais sur les épaules de géants", a dit Isaac Newton. De nos jours, la majorité des travaux scientifiques et techniques sont basés sur des résultats et des conclusions d'autres travaux. Ceci est d'autant plus vrai lorsqu'il s'agit d'une oeuvre de vulgarisation.
L'utilisation de références bibliographiques répond à plusieurs objectifs:
· L'honnêteté d'indiquer quels résultats ou conclusions n’est pas de mouture propre.
· Le désir de donner plus de force à vos propos en montrant que des autorités dans la matière sont en accord avec vous.
· L'esprit de synthèse qui veut éviter un calcul ou une démonstration compliquée simplement en se référant à quelqu'un qui l'ait déjà fait.
· L'intérêt de donner aux lecteurs assoiffés des sources pour étancher leur soif.
· Montrer que vous connaissez les autorités du domaine...
Style
· Utilisez un langage simple, objectif, quantifié, précis, concis et rigoureux. Faites des phrases courtes et directes. La quantité ne fait pas la qualité.
· Consacrez chaque paragraphe à une idée différente et donnez toujours des preuves ou exemples en soutien de vos opinions ou conclusions.
· N'hésitez pas à donner une brève définition à la première apparition d'un nouveau terme, spécifique à votre problème.
· N'oubliez pas qu'un texte orthographiquement et grammaticalement correct est plus facile à lire que s'il ne l'était pas.
· Numéroter les chapitres, sous chapitres.
· Numéroter les pages.
· Justification du texte à gauche et à droite.
· Utilisation des graphiques, dessins, tables, etc. si besoin
