Source text - English The King is Coming
Theme: Preparing our hearts for Christ's return.
Object: A mop and pail, window cleaner, sponges, and other cleaning supplies.
Scripture: "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way" -- "a voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord'" Mark 1:2-3
My mother was a very good housekeeper. You could come to our house at any time and never find a thing out of place. There was never a bed unmade or a dirty dish in the sink. You would never find clothes on the floor or a dirty sock hiding under the bed at our house! There was a place for everything -- and everything was in its place.
Even though our house always looked just fine to me, I can still remember what it was like around our house when my mother found out that company was coming. She brought out the broom, the mop and pail, sponges, window cleaner, bathroom cleaner, dust rags, and furniture polish. Then she called me and my two sisters together and assigned each of us the job that we were to do. When we were finished, mother always checked to make sure that not a speck of dirt or dust remained.
Can you imagine what it would have been like around our house if we had been expecting a visit from a king? Well, that is what I want to talk to you about this morning. A king is coming -- not just any king -- the King of Kings!
Long before Jesus was born, a prophet named Isaiah said that before Jesus would be born, there would be one who would come before him to prepare the way for him. His name was John. The Bible tells us that John was like a voice, crying in the wilderness, telling people that Jesus was coming and that they needed to prepare for his coming.
When John told people that they needed to prepare for the coming of Jesus, he wasn't talking about a clean house. He was talking about a clean heart. He told the people that they needed to confess their sins, repent, and be baptized so that they would be ready to meet the coming King.
Jesus, the King was born. This is the season when we celebrate his birth. The Bible also tells us that he is coming again and that we must be ready for his return. How about you? Are you ready to meet the King?
Dear Jesus, as we remember your birth, help us also to make sure that our hearts are clean and ready for your return. Amen.

Писание: «Я посылаю Ангела Моего пред лицом Твоим, который приготовит путь Твой пред Тобою. Глас вопиющего в пустыне: приготовьте путь Господу» (Марка 1:2-3)
Моя мама была хорошей домохозяйкой. Вы могли в любое время прийти в наш дом и никогда бы не нашли что-либо, лежащее не на своем месте. Кровати всегда были убраны, а посуда никогда не оставалась в раковине. Вы не увидели бы в нашем доме одежду на полу или грязный носок, спрятанный под кровать! У каждой вещи было свое место – и все лежало на своих местах.
Хоть, на мой взгляд, наш дом всегда выглядел хорошо, я до сих пор помню, что происходило в нем, когда моя мама узнавала, что к нам придут гости. Она доставала веник, швабру с ведром, губки, моющее средство для стекол, чистящее средство для ванны, тряпочки для пыли и полировки мебели. Затем она звала меня и двух моих сестер и каждому из нас давала работу, которую мы обязаны были сделать. Когда мы заканчивали, мама всегда проверяла, что не осталось ни единого грязного пятнышка.
Можете представить, что бы происходило в нашем доме, если бы мы ожидали визита царя? Как раз об этом я и хочу поговорить с вами сегодня утром. К нам идет царь, и не просто царь – Царь царей!
Задолго до того, как родился Иисус, пророк по имени Исайя сказал, что прежде, чем родится Иисус, придет человек, который будет идти перед Ним и приготовит Ему путь. Звали этого человека Иоанн. Библия говорит нам, что Иоанн был голосом, который громко звучит в пустыне и говорит людям, что идет Иисус, и нужно приготовиться к Его пришествию.
Когда Иоанн говорил людям, что они должны приготовится к пришествию Иисуса, он не говорил об уборке жилья. Он проповедовал о чистом сердце. Он говорил людям, что им нужно признать свои грехи, покаяться и креститься, чтобы они были готовы встретить грядущего Царя.
Этот Царь, Иисус, родился. В это время года мы празднуем Его Рождество. Библия говорит, что Он придет снова, и мы должны быть готовыми к Его возвращению. А как насчет тебя? Ты готов встретить Царя?
Дорогой Иисус, помоги нам так же, как мы не забываем Твое Рождество, не забывать проверять свои сердца, чтобы они были чистыми и готовыми к Твоему приходу. Аминь.
