Mentored & supervised other female staff on my team & female student leadership at USYD, UNSW, UTS, UND and ACU. Had extensive interaction with international students, including Indonesian students.

Key Achievements
• March-April 2011: successfully interpreted consecutively (Indonesian <> English) at a week-long staff training event held at UGM, Yogyakarta—one of Indonesia’s most prestigious universities. Attended by approximately 30 Indonesian local staff that came from all over the Indonesian archipelago.


Student Liaison for Visiting Indonesian PhD Students (casual)

Acted as an Indonesian-speaking student liaison for a visiting group of PhD students (all of whom were also academic staff at their home universities) from various universities throughout Indonesia. Helped in the following areas, among others: providing pre-arrival information, airport pick-up & drop-off, orientation, sourcing accommodation, language and general academic advice.


Indonesian Translator (casual)

Translated a range of WWII documents from the ‘Netherlands Institute for War Documentation’. The documents for translation were written in old Indonesian spelling, and had extensive use of Dutch vocabulary within the text also.

Regularly interpret (simultaneously and live) for Sunday services for non-Indonesian speaking attendees and online viewers (typically on a fortnightly basis), as well as special events and annual conferences. Regularly translate song lyrics and announcements (typically on a fortnightly basis).

Volunteer interpreter in the relief effort following the Yogyakarta Earthquake of May 2006. Interpreted for AusAID staff and local agencies, and institutions, including hospitals.

Malteser International May – June 2006
Volunteer medical interpreter in the relief effort following the Yogyakarta Earthquake of May 2006. Mostly involved interpreting for German medical practitioners and local Javanese patients in makeshift field clinics in affected areas.

Personal Interests
I have a keen interest in travel, in particular to Indonesia and Asia. I have a huge passion for the Indonesian & Malay languages and their people. I enjoy getting involved in the Indonesian community and in their activities in Sydney. I thoroughly enjoy learning languages, especially of the Asian variety. I am also interested in current affairs, politics and immigration-related issues. Finally, I am also passionate about volunteering, dance and coffee.
