NASA has finally accomplished its first spaceflight with the new Orion spacecraft, uncrewed, on Friday morning. The spacecraft has now traveled farther from the Earth than any other spacecraft designed to carry a crew has traveled in over four decades.
The Orion crew module was launched off from Space Launch Complex 37 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida mounted on top of a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket. Four and a half hours later, the space module landed in the Pacific Ocean.
During the mission, the spacecraft reached an altitude of 3,600 miles (5800 kilometers) and experienced periods of intense radiation when traveling twice through the Van Allen belt.
Upon re-entry in the Earth's atmosphere, Orion achieved speeds of 20,000 miles per hour (32,000 kilometers per hour) and temperatures reached 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit (2200 degrees Celsius).
NASA has reported the entire spacecraft remained in one piece, with all the onboard computers still working despite the high radiation in the Van Allen belt. All the parachutes deployed without incident.
NASA said this is the farthest spacecraft have flown since the Apollo 17 mission 42 years ago, opening up new human explorations of space and getting closer to the goal of putting people on Mars.
Had astronauts been on board Orion, they would have experienced 8.2 times the force of gravity on Earth, NASA said.
Astronaut Rex Walheim, of the last Space Shuttle mission, talked about future crewed Mars missions and becoming "a multi-planetary species".
The Orion program manager hopes NASA will look at information from this spaceflight and apply it to the next Orion spacecraft, to be launched by the Space Launch System rocket.

1. Introduction
1.1 Purpose
This regulatory document sets out the requirements of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for managing aging of structures, systems, and components (SSCs) of a nuclear power plant (NPP).
Managing aging for nuclear power plants means ensuring the availability of required safety functions throughout the service life of the plant, with account taken of changes that occur with time and use. Aging management requires addressing both physical aging of SSCs, resulting in degradation of their performance characteristics, and obsolescence of SSCs. Aging management applies to SSCs that can, directly or indirectly, have an adverse effect on the safe operation of the NPP.
This regulatory document is intended for use by licensees and applicants in establishing, implementing, and improving aging management programs (AMPs) for NPPs.
1.2 Scope
This regulatory document sets out CNSC requirements to provide assurance that aging management is appropriately and proactively considered in the different phases of an NPP’s lifecycle. The lifecycle phases can apply to individual SSCs as well as the entire NPP. Specific requirements are also provided for establishment, implementation, and improvement of AMPs through application of a systematic and integrated approach.
It is not the intent of this document to override the requirements of other codes and standards but rather to provide a framework within which codes and standards can be applied to provide assurance that physical aging and obsolescence of SSCs are effectively managed.
Where appropriate, this regulatory document may be applied to nuclear facilities other than NPPs, with due consideration of the differences compared to those of an NPP in hazard potential and complexity of affected systems.

1.2 범위
본 규제 문서는 원전의 수명기간 동안 각기 다른 단계에서 경년열화 관리가 사전에 적절하게 고려됨을 보장하기 위하여 CNSC가 제정한 요건을 기술한다. 수명기간 동안의 단계 개념은 원전 전체뿐만 아니라 개별 SSC에도 적용될 수 있다. 체계적이고 통합적인 접근방법의 적용을 통한 경년열화 관리 프로그램의 수립, 시행, 개선을 위하여 구체적인 요건들도 제시된다.

정부는 원자력안전이 원자력사업 추진에 우선하는 최고의 목표임을 명백히 밝히며, 원자력계에 종사하는 모든 이로 하여금 안전성 확보를 위한 사명감과 책임의식을 고취시키고 일반 국민의 원자력안전에 대한 신뢰를 확보하고자 원자력안전헌장을 제정하여, 원자력안전위원회의 의결을 거쳐 2001년 9월 6일 이를 선포하였다(부록 B 참조). 원자력안전헌장은 국가 전체 차원의 원자력 안전에 관한 철학과 이념의 근간을 제시하는 역할을 감당하고 있다.
정부는 이 보다 앞서 1994년 9월 “원자력안전정책성명” 공표를 통해 규제활동에 대한 일관성, 적절성 및 합리성을 도모하기 위하여 ‘원자력 안전규제 5대 원칙’과 이의 구체적 추진을 위한 ‘11개 항목의 안전규제 정책방향’을 제시하였다(부록 C 참조).

I.2 Nuclear Safety Policy
The government established and announced the Nuclear Safety Charter through a resolution by the Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) on 6 December 6 2001. Through the Charter, the government aimed to clarify that the nuclear safety is the top priority before the implementation of nuclear power projects, to inspire a sense of duty and responsibility to personnel working in the nuclear power-related fields for securing the nuclear safety and public confidence in the nuclear safety (refer to Annex B).
In September 1994, the government issued the Nuclear Safety Policy Statement containing 5 principles of nuclear safety regulation to secure consistency, adequacy, and rationality of regulatory activities, and 11 directions of nuclear safety regulation policy to concretely implement those principles (refer to Annex C).
The Nuclear Safety Policy Statement declares that securing safety is a prerequisite to the development and utilization of nuclear energy, and that all workers engaged in nuclear activities must adhere to the principle of "priority to safety." It emphasizes the importance of developing the nuclear safety culture. It also prescribes that the ultimate responsibility for nuclear safety rests with the operating organizations of nuclear installations, and is in no way diluted by the separate activities and responsibilities of designers, suppliers, constructors, or regulators. Finally, it prescribes that the Government shall fulfill its overall responsibility to protect the public and the environment from radiation hazards that might accompany the development and utilization of nuclear energy.

Researchers have established that interval training, particularly, the HIIT format, can [1] increase cardiovascular adaptations (increased stroke volume, VO2 max, cardiac contractility and left ventricle heart mass), [2] improve muscles’ ability to utilize oxygen to burn energy (fuel) in the mitochondria, and [3] stimulate cellular pathways similar to the benefits achieved from steady state, lower intensity endurance training, except in less frequency and shorter training sessions.
Current research further suggests that, regardless of age, gender, fitness level or expertise, HIIT style workouts can [1] increase physiological training responses, [2] reap a higher calorie burn and potential calorie afterburn (EPOC), and [3] boost health benefits more efficiently and in less time than steady state programming. HIIT style workouts are safe even for a beginner who is self-monitoring using perceived exertion (see the Intensity Scale).
HIIT workouts, designed with the appropriate duration, intensity ratio of high intensity, and active recovery are considered a form of “Metabolic Training,” which can stimulate a higher calorie burn for the entire workout; the body continues to burn calories post exercise at a rate significantly higher than for steady state training (EPOC). More overall calories are utilized and fat loss is increased.
HIIT can provide a quick and efficient method to improving both overall cardio stamina and muscular endurance so participants can eventually exercise harder, faster, and longer, and ultimately, become very fit.
As individuals adapt to higher levels of intensity, their tolerance at the metabolic (lactic) threshold (the level at which a person ceases to maintain intensity) increases. This enables them to tolerate work at higher intensity levels for longer periods of time overall for an entire workout when compared to steady state training. As one’s tolerance improves at higher thresholds of intensity, an individual has to work harder to achieve the same level of perceived intensity level in order to continue to improve.
