Abidi Girma Oromo, West-Africa- Abidi is doing a great job in first grade! He is meeting expectations in all areas and becoming more independent every day. Abidi continues to read above grade level with excellent fluency. He is currently reading level 20 books and working on comprehension strategies such as summarizing, identifying main ideas, and making connections. Abidi is doing very well in writing! He is using punctuation and capitalization appropriately most of the time. His stories are focused and he is beginning to use dialogue in his writing. We will be working on adding quotation marks and using paragraphs to organize his thoughts. In word study, Abidi is working on short and long vowel patterns such as “ea- beach”, “ ai- tail” and “silent e- rope”. Abidi scored 95% on his 2nd quarter math assessment! He can show equality and inequality in equations and form numbers using tens and ones. Abidi can solve story problems with addition, subtraction, or missing numbers. He can also count a collection of objects or coins and count forwards and backwards. Abidi enjoys learning new things in science and social studies. He especially likes to participate in hands-on activities. Abidi works well independently and in groups. He consistently completes his work and is respectful to his teachers and classmates. At home, please continue completing reading and math homework weekly. You can also talk about the books Abidi is reading and encourage him to make predictions and ask questions to better understand the stories. I enjoy having Abidi in class and look forward to discussing his progress during spring conferences!

Experience
Years of experience: 13. Registered at ProZ.com: Feb 2015.
I am a native of Ethiopia; Oromo and Amharic are my mother tongues.
More importantly for you, I studied English Language and Literature at Addis Ababa University. For the past four years, I have been teaching primary and secondary English classes.
I recognize that languages cannot always be translated verbatim. One must strive to capture the essential meaning of what is being said in order to be consistent. I am very familiar with switching between English and Amharic/Oromo both in conversation and in a text. I have completed a number of other freelance jobs for international translation companies and believe all my clients were satisfied.
I believe I will be able to consistently deliver quality work to you.
