Término o frase en español:marinadas
El soleado clima del litoral español facilita unas
marinadas suaves y tranquilas, una mar llana y
cristalina ideal para la iniciación.
Thanks in advance
Explicación: Caused by the difference in temperature between the land and sea at different times during the day and night. Sea breeze (virazón) occurs during the day when the land is hotter than the sea, causing the heated air to rise and cooler air from the sea to be sucked landwards. Land breeze (terral) occurs at night when the sea releases its heat, the air rises and the wind blows offshore.
Both breezes are coastal but can add to the effect of larger wind patterns causing strong winds at midday. This can often be felt in summer in Spain, the wind rising from a gentle morning breeze to a fresh force 5 or 6 at lunchtime, dropping as the sun sets. to call both "sea breezes" in a sailing context would be incorrect. the quoted phrase is a blatant lie as the only ideal setting for learning to windsurf is a sheltered, enclosed bay. either that or you get up at the crack of dawn, before the sea breeze sets in.
So, as it's advertising, 'gentle breeze' would be acceptable? Thanks. First time I've come across 'marinada' outside the obvious food context. Saludos a todos, Christine Walsh
Advertising is my first love (my mom thinks I play the piano in a brothel) so I understand why the text says "Spain's sunny coastline, gentle breezes and clear, calm seas are ideal for learning to windsurf." It's not entirely true, but you can't really say " is much nicer than trying to learn in Grimbsy harbour, in the rain in a force 7" it's not that bad, just not entirely true.
A text like this (and I admit it took me some time to get close to the right track) just shows how difficult it is to translate substandard texts sometimes.
One supposes that that the author should be more expert than the translator!
Well, whoever wrote the piece wants to give the idea that conditions are ideal for learning to windsurf on the litoral español. (All 8000 Km? Does this include Zarautz where they hold surf championships? The sinister and dangerous Costa da Morte?) This will obviously be partly true part of the time in some places. Especially sheltered bays and coves. Still, it's not our responsibility, is it? I was just making the point that even a light breeze from the sea will fairly quickly raise small waves, which is not mar llana…
See what you mean. Here you would only get a 'mar llana' on a section of the Buenos Aires province coast that faces south, when there's a prevailing hot north wind, usually during heat waves in summer. It gets absolutely stifling and the sea is full of jellyfish. Ugh!
mar llana, flat calm. Manifestly untrue on an open coast except with no or very little wind (at dawn or before). A sea breeze will raise , in a short time, a sea large enough to unbalance any beginner before he can raise the mast and get under way.
Haven't found anything unconnected with food. Maybe it refers to something like 'sea-going experience' or 'sea bathing'. 'Iniciación' into what? Does it say?

marine activities
Explicación: the suffix ada in catalan often refers to an activity involving the root
eg. a costellada is an event where you get together with friends, barbecue the chops and then eat them
if the writer is from any of the Paisos Catalans, he may have been influenced by the local tongue when writing in Spanish

you can probably improve on the actual expression, but that's the idea IMHO

The updates to the menu were made to make the site easy and more intuitive for visitors. Obviously, like any change, this may take a few days to get used to.
The dropdown menus have been divided into two-dimensional panels with similar items grouped together under headings. This eliminates scrolling for those with smaller screens, and also improves readability.
Mouseover your name at the top of the screen. Here you will find information about your account, your email settings, and more. The "My ProZ.com" menu was moved up here to simplify the main navigation, and to keep all of this type of information together.
