Traducciones de español a inglés [PRO] Medical - Medicina: Odontología / jaw injury
Término o frase en español:cerelaje
I'm working with a Spanish text consisting of nurse and doctors' notes on a patients progress. the word "cerelaje" appears several times, not offering much for context. One of the major injuries is a fractured jaw undergoing surgery. For example:
"usuario en cama, conciente y orientado, muy palido, con cerelaje"
or
"se observa tranquilo, tiene cerelaje"
The origin of the document is Colombia.
I have found enough to tell me that "cerelaje" means some sawing up of an opening or wound or rupture, but I'm lacking a precise term, if there is one.

Dr. Jason Faulkner: 20:55 Apr 24, 2008: Is the patient a pregnant woman? mar lopez: 20:59 Apr 24, 2008: No, the patient is not a pregnant woman. He had jaw surgery. Thank you. Dr. Jason Faulkner: 21:16 Apr 24, 2008: OK, just checking. I thought it may have been a typo. Dr. Jason Faulkner: 21:23 Apr 24, 2008: I just confirmed with a surgical colleague in Mexico. He said it sounds like a typo as well. It should probably be "cerclaje" as well. In English that's an MMF or "cerclage."
Explicación: Based on the context, it sounds like they are referring to maxillomandibular fixation (MMF). This is essentially having the jaw "wired shut."
I've never heard the term cerelaje, however.
