Sexagesimal and circular numbering system Explanation: Sexagesimal and circular numbering system (or number systems) I made a mistake before with "sexagesimal" and Marina brought it to my attention, so I had to delete my previous answer. I had written "hexadecimal" which is different (base 16). If Marina (Soldati) adds an answer, please award the points to her. Sorry about the confusion. The sexagesimal (base-sixty) is a numeral system with sixty as the base. It originated with the ancient Sumerians in the 2000s BC, and was transmitted to the Babylonians: see Babylonian numerals.
