Maybe Public Ministry, maybe Public Prosecutor's Office. I'm not sure. Another thing you may want to consider is to put "Marriage Bureau" in parenthesis. Please be aware that I'm just guessing here. Maybe some of the others can chime in.

Thank you Sandro I see what you mean and thank you Jairo & Rosa. Should I then just leave it as "Public Ministry" or discover which entity in this US state handles family law cases such as divorce?

Jairo posted a useful reference, "Ministerio Público en México," that in Paragraph 3, Section II. states the following: "Actúa bajo una dirección: A partir de la Ley Orgánica en 1903, el Ministerio Público actúa bajo la dirección de un Procurador de Justicia." <br> So it seems to me the "Ministerio Público" works under the Attorney General (Procurador de Justicia) and, therefore, we may not use "Attorney General" for "Ministerio Público." Just a thought.

THANK YOU ALL for your feedback. My instinct was to leave it as "Public Ministry" but ..... will it be understood in the USA? What would the equivalent in the USA be? THAT is the clincher.

yes, thank you. it is a petition for dissolution of marriage. addressed to the honorable judge:

primero - tenernos por presentados en los terminos de este ocurso solicitando la disolucion ... etc etc

segundo - Dar al Ministerio Publico la intervención que conforme a Derecho corresponde y ordenar se señale día y hora para que tenga verificativo la primera junta de avenimiento.

tercero - En su oportunidad, previos los tramites de ley, declarar disuelto el vínculo matrimonial que nos une, aprobando el convenio conjunto.)

Honorable Judge we petition:



First – according to the terms set forth in this petition we ask the court for the dissolution of our marriage by way of Voluntary Divorce.


Second – charge the District Attorney’s office, according to the law, with an order to set a date and time, and provide verification thereof, for the first meeting of consent.


Third – When warranted and after having complied with the legal formalities, we ask the Court to end our marriage, approving the affixed marital settlement agreement.
