(claims/insurance) adjuster / appraiser Explanation: Both adjuster and appraiser are used. "The adjuster or appraiser aims to accurately evaluate the damage to the car and determine who was at fault for the accident." http://www.ehow.co.uk/list_7346325_car-insurance-claim-proce... I have been translating for the car repair industry for the last 15+ years and osberve that appraiser comes up more now than adjuster ;-) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 53 mins (2011-11-17 09:44:29 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- observe, sorry! By the way Tina, to clarify, because I've seen your note above. 1. adjuster = appraiser, one and the same thing. 2. There is a different use of perito, which I didn't take to be the case in your context, which is that of "expert witness". To give you an example of this usage: one of the employees in said car repair company is an expert in traffic accident recreation through computer programmes, and he is called, as a "perito" to give evidence in court cases about insurance claims. Same area of activity, but rather different from the chappy who has a look at the dent in your car. The company I work with specializes in working out how much a specific repair should cost, in terms of time, and materials, and they produce repair schedules (baremos) to this effect, which the insurance companies can consult and follow. |
