Tech/Engineering - Ingeniería: industrial / about a steel cheese grater
Término o frase en italiano: acciaio lucido protetto a vista
AISI 430 acciaio lucido protetto a vista

I'm guessing "AISI 430 guarded stainless steel" but I can't be sure that makes sense! Any comments most welcome.

Clarification request(s) and response
Maja Gerasimova: 15:00 Jul 18, 2006: could it be that "protetto" is separate from "a vista"? (in that case, a vista would be on demand (mostly used in finances, banking etc) Or you think it is hidden from view, but I cannot "merry" the two terms...
Derek Smith: 17:30 Jul 18, 2006: From the sound of it your source has been translated from another language, in which case all attempts at decryption are doomed to failure because translators are, as you know, a fearful crew of ruffians by and large.

AISI430 coated, polished stainless steel
Explicación:
Acciaio lucido has to be polished stainless as "shiny stainless steel" would not do..

Having done some research about "acciaio protetto" I found that several manufacturers offer anti-corrosive treatments or even coatings. What is throwing me for a loop is the "a vista" part of the phrase which makes absolutely no sense to me..decreasing my confidence level..is there more text such as what is it protected with?

My guess is that "a vista" may mean all exposed parts (any parts that are visible) must be treated.

I am assuming from your other questions that it's the cheese grater and if so, humidity may be a factor here but they should be specifying somewhere how this material is to be treated. Sorry I cannot be of more help.
