Término o frase en italiano:a riprova di un conquistato ritegno ad abbandonarsi
"Va infine sottolineata, ***a riprova di un conquistato ritegno ad abbandonarsi*** alla piena incontrollata dei sentimenti, la scelta di lasciare tutto il finale impastato dei soli suoni realistici, senza traccia della musica, che ricompare solo a ridosso della parola fine."
I'm having serious trouble getting my head around the highlighted part of the phrase - I understand the meaning but the right wording just won't come to me. All help appreciated. Thanks!

confirming that some restraint....
Explicación: "confirming that some restraint has been acquired which will prevent an overwhelming flood of sentimentality"
Well, I might have like a bit more context, even though you've given the whole sentence. I take "sentimenti" to be negative and I might go for "sentimentality".
I'd also pare down the word Italian as I think (and you say so yourself) that the sense is evident.

testifies to a mature inclination towards restraint rather than overflowing sentimentality
Explicación: I would move away from the Italian here
*the choice to .... testifies to a mature inclination towards restraint rather than overflowing sentimentality*
*conquistato* seems to suggest experience - hence my choice of *mature*
*sentimentality* does have a negative connotation, you could opt for something more neutral
hth ;-)

suggestion provided
Explicación: “Lastly, it is perhaps worth mentioning that the finale, entirely composed of realistic sounds, without a trace of music that only reappears just before the very end, reflects an acquired reticence to give in to a maelstrom of emotion, with wanton abandon.”
In the above suggestion, an assumption is made that the finale composed as described (using only realistic sounds) is a departure from the composer’s previous tendency to fill his music with deep sentiment. This seems to be the most straightforward interpretation. However, the context may indicate that previously the composer was very restrained and stuck to conventional musical forms, and that now, by using only realistic sounds in this finale, he has finally overcome his reticence to abandon himself to a flood of feeling and sentiment.
as confirmation of acquired constraint in feelings
Explicación: Usually "ritegno" is translated as "restraint". One of the meanings of "restraint" is: "constraint or reserve in feelings, behavior, etc."

self-control
Explicación: I would translate "ritegno ad abbandonarsi" as self-control, nice and tight, as is best in English
I leave a riprova and conquistato to you, since you know the tone and syntax you are using.
ciao

What is wrong people?
I refuse to engage in petty comment wars. We give the best we know to our colleagues; I have never engaged in Kudoz to prove others wrong, but just to give my honest opinion.
I leave in an English and French speaking country and I am more than a little puzzled by the Italianate solutions that are sometimes offered in the Italian-English pair.
I tend to avoid overtranslation, even when translating into English deconstructist criticism.
That's all.
Kind regards to all.
