They're talking about "seeing" the Milky Way by means of the X and gamma ray radiations that are emitted from its core, from neutron stars, supernovas etc.
Does anyone know what English verb can be slipped in here?

| Clarification request(s) and responseMilena Bosco: 18:35 Jun 2, 2008: Pauley, you can translate "Those that impress x-ray plates". In my University years I heard "impress" for radiations all the time. You are always translating interesting things. Lucky you. Milena Bosco: 18:59 Jun 2, 2008: To find "hits" on Google please type "radiations impress plate" for example. You will find them!

Explicación: Just because it seems obvious, it does not have to be wrong.

Pauley, don't make me say the b... word again, for which I was amply reproached by the moderators, many of them and my b.. answer was obscured. B.. Google is not God, doesn't have to be right all the b... times

I admire you, Pauley for using the b.. word so freely. Could it be that we are becoming more emancipated? After all, when Eliza Doolittle said: move your bloody arse, all the horsey aristocracy imitated her.

Usuario que pregunta: yeah, gemma, i thought that too, but "impress x-rays" doesn't get any google hits.
Usuario que pregunta: you're right, of course, but these days a few google hits go a long way to ascertaining the relative correctness of something. zero hits says a lot, IMHO. BTW, "bloody's in the bible, bloody's in the book, if you don't believe me, have a bloody look".
Usuario que pregunta: actually, she says "blooming".
