| Término o frase en inglés: blast erosion | HYDROCARBON FIRES
Hydrocarbon fires are caused by burning hydrocarbon fuels, such as petrol, diesel, petro-chemicals and gases. These types of fires are characterised by a rapid and massive temperature increase as the fuel ignites, which tends to drop away fairly quickly depending on the quantity of fuel involved.
This rapid increase in temperature also causes a high level of pressure (__blast erosion__), which would destroy traditional thin-film intumescents as well as most other typical structural steelwork fire protection. |
