Can anyone translate policeman in French? Thank you

The mainline track consists of jointed track. The joints and fishplates assessment was visual and no measurements were taken. The criteria for the assessment was:
• Evidence of battered rail ends
• Dipped joints
• Joint alignment
• Large gaps and no policeman (very short rail sections to fill gaps in joints)
• Fishplates of different sizes

"Policeman" is "short closure rails" (20 to 40 mm in length) or "gap filler rails"
