Sometimes when I no longer want to get email notifications of new posts in a thread I've been following, and I unclick the

"Email tracking-This topic- All posts"

box at the right, and save, it doesn't work and I still keep getting the email notifications.

This only happens sometimes.

What's wrong?

Not sure, but ... Feb 13, 2016

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you can't escape an avalanche you triggered yourself The initiator of a thread will still get notifications. Do you get notifications for threads you didn't start yourself, even when you turn off email tracking?

Hmmm that's annoying. I want to escape an avalanche of emails telling me there are comments to a thread I started but that I'm no longer interested in.

Surely there's a way to do that?

If you turn off ALL email notifications... Feb 14, 2016

... you get way more work done. Your inbox doesn't get clogged up with useless messages, and you visit ProZ less often. It's the same with Facebook. I highly recommend it!

Yes - but I do occasionally get emails about jobs, and personal contacts through my Proz profile. Plus queries etc from other Proz users via the Proz emailing system and kudoz questions. I wouldn't want to miss any of those things.

It seems I'm always unable to explain myself. I wrote ".... a thread I've been following" and I thought that was clear.

Let me quote your previous sentence, then:
I want to escape an avalanche of emails telling me there are comments to a thread I started but that I'm no longer interested in.

Sigh...
