Hello, I am pretty new with Trados Studio 2014. I use the virtual machine VMWare on my iMAC. In the edit window, the mode Insert acciedently switched to the Overwrite Mode. Does anybody know how I can manage to switch it back (with the iMAC keyboard)? Thank you for your help ! Kind regards Christel Balle

This might work

Hello Christel,
Yeah I know, very irritating. As far as I could figure out, Trados just does that, on its own. I'm sure there's some key sequence that triggers the switch, but I never found out what that was.
I'm using Parallels Desktop, so I don't have the same environment.
Anyway, try "fn + Enter". Over here, that does the trick.
Let us know how you fare.
Have a nice day. André

You can emulate the INS key
Jun 30, 2015
From the VMware menu choose Virtual Machine > Send Key > Help (Insert).

Swicth from overwrite to insert mode with iMAC

Hello colleagues,
Thank you very much for your hints! The "fn + Enter" one does not work, but if you just choose Virtual Machine > Send Key > and choose one key, "Overwrite" immediately changes to "Insert" and vice versa. This could be a solution. Thanks and have a nice day ! Christel

You can also do it without using the keyboard

Hi Christel
You may also switch from Insert to Overwrite and back by clicking on the INS/OVR text in the status line (to the left of the confirmation statistics counters). Walter
