Boiler plate Jul 9, 2015

For me inclusion of a confidentiality/data protection clause is standard boiler plate as it reinforces the existing contractual obligations in that regard It also provides some degree protection in the event that the email inadvertently ends up in the wrong hands.

I prefer my usual disclaimer, just in case any clients decide to tinker with the texts after they have been delivered.

"[Insert name] accepts no
responsibility for any modifications
made subsequently by the clientele."

Thus far there has been no need to include one.
And with my clients there's no need for protection anyway.

Not in my e-mail signature... Jul 9, 2015

... which is cluttered enough already with contact details, VAT number, Chartered Linguist...

I do add it where it applies.

Ah, are you talking about one of those "if this ain't for you, bin it" lines?

It should. Confidentiality (express trade secret, and translator-client privilege if applicable) and link to your T&C. You can't bind a client to your T&C by just having them on your website, it needs to be a bit more in-your-face for the adhesion to work.
