I love languages, which is why I majored in linguistics, but that doesn't mean I'm "truly eager to learn languages." I would rather focus on the three (and a half) that I already know.

I tried to learn Japanese several years ago, and the experience was heartbreaking.

It's a bit like I hated learning to drive - but love driving.

I love manipulating the languages I know, finding the exact right word or phrase, reading new stuff and extending existing knowledge. But I have no real desire to go and learn a new language from scratch.
